Mr Mahesh Pai is a vascular and general surgeon based at Southmead Hospital, Bristol, with private practices at Circle Bath and BMI Bath Clinic. His clinical interests include carotid endarterectomy for stroke, critical limb ischaemia, open and endovascular abdominal aortic aneurysm repair, and thoracic outlet syndrome. He has extensive experience in the treatment of arterial conditions including endovascular surgery for aortic aneurysms. He also has particular experience in local anaesthetic ambulatory treatment of varicose veins.
Mr Pai runs the diabetic foot clinic at Royal United Hospitals in Bath and has outpatient clinics at both the Melksham Community Hospital and the Royal United Hospitals where he helped to establish the fast track carotid service which is one of the best stroke surgery services in the country. He is also the current director for the Bath, Bristol, and Weston Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm (AAA) screening programme.
Mr Pai trained in Mumbai where he achieved his MBBS and MS (General Surgery). He then undertook specialist vascular training in Oxford and Bath before completing an endovascular fellowship in Australia. Following this, he conducted research in arterial disease at London University and was awarded an MD for his work.
